June 14, 2007 -- The Discus program is excited to announce our participation in the Summer Institutes sponsored by the Teaching American History in South Carolina (TAHSC) project. The Summer Institutes provide a range of professional development opportunities for South Carolina teachers, giving them the tools they need to make history more engaging for their students.
May 14, 2007 -- Our summer 2007 training schedule is now available. We’re offering three onsite training events, all of which will be held in Columbia, and three brief online sessions that are accessible through your desktop personal computer using OPAL (Online Programming for All Libraries).
May 14, 2007 -- Stay tuned for lots of great upgrades that are coming to Thomson Gale's PowerSearch platform later this summer.
The new and exciting features will include:
- the ability to search within results;
- improved "How to Cite" functionality, including MLA and APA style formats that adhere to current guidelines and provide formatting and spacing;
- a "Did You Mean?" feature that will offer spelling options and other suggestions; and
- a tab configuration, so you can select the order of the tab display.
May 11, 2007 -- Great news! Many of the Thomson Gale databases provided by Discus now display Lexile reading level scores. This new feature allows you to search content related to a defined reading level, which is especially useful for members of the South Carolina K-12 community.
