Online SC Newsletters Available from ProQuest

Sept. 18, 2007 -- ProQuest, the provider of the SIRS databases, is now publishing online newsletters specific to South Carolina, in cooperation with Discus and the State Library.

New Name for InfoTrac OneFile

Aug. 21, 2007 -- The Thomson Gale database previously known as InfoTrac OneFile is now called General OneFile,
a name chosen to more accurately describe the content.  The name change was part of the new
PowerSearch enhancements released by Thomson Gale just last week.  General OneFile is now
Thomson Gale's largest general reference database.  For the largest collection of academic journals
in the Discus collection, users should access Academic OneFile. 

New PowerSearch Upgrades Go Live This Week

Aug. 13, 2007 -- If you’ve never used Thomson Gale’s PowerSearch platform to access information in the Discus collection, be sure to check it out soon.  It’s even better than ever following a host of upgrades that go live this week.

PowerSearch allows you to cross-search most of the Thomson Gale databases in a single query, either by subject, keyword or full text.  It also allows you to conduct publication searches, as well as other types of advanced searches.

New Look and Features for Biography Resource Center

Aug. 9, 2007 -- Biography Resource Center, the comprehensive resource for biographical information in the Discus collection, is sporting a fresh new interface and helpful features that make searching even easier and more productive.

Released on July 25, the enhancements include a more contemporary interface, the ability to browse for biographies by category, an improved results list, and content tabs that are clearer and easier to navigate.
