(12/04/02) The South Carolina State Library is pleased to welcome Patricia S. Fratangelo to the position of Discus Training and Support Librarian. Pat's primary responsibility will be coordination and presentation of Discus training. She will also create print and web-based training, promotion and support materials for Discus, consult with library and media center staff about Discus database features and content, and provide support for all aspects of Discus.
This newly created position is an expansion of the part-time Discus role that was previously held by Sallee Weston, formerly Discus Project Assistant. Sallee decided not to return to the State Library after she became a mother in June.
Pat began her duties with Discus - South Carolina's Virtual Library in early October. She has previously served as Instructional Services Librarian at Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa, and has taught English as a Peace Corps volunteer in Uzbekistan. Pat's other work experience includes: a graduate assistantship in the reference department at Thomas Cooper Library, USC; a student internship in collection development/acquisitions at Allen University; and other technical editing, teaching, training, tutoring, and web experience.
Pat earned her Masters degree in Library & Information Science from the University of South Carolina. While at USC, Pat received the William M. Trafton III Outstanding Student Award for Leadership and was inducted into Beta Phi Mu, the library and information science honorary society. Pat also holds an undergraduate degree in English from Utah State University and a secondary education teaching certificate.
Pat can be reached at: firstname.lastname@example.org or 803.734.8625.
